Last week we shared that Aminta was cleared of all of her charges and home with her family. Since that post we have been given some updated information.
As it turns out, the information that Aminta’s pastor was given was not completely correct and as we’ve been visiting with Aminta and her family she has given us the whole story. Aminta was not cleared of all of her charges but she was released to come home with her family. She is on house arrest and she can only leave her community with permission from the judge. Thankfully, her church, the majority of her family and the places she needs to go to do the shopping for her family are all within her community so this has not been a huge inconvenience for her.
When Aminta goes to sign in as a condition of her house arrest this Friday July 14, she will learn how they are going to move forward with her case. She will still owe the lawyer 6,000 quetzales, which is about $833 for the rest of her court proceedings.
She asked that we would all be praying for the Lord to give her favor before the judge and that this case against her would be dropped now. Please also pray for the Lord to provide the money her family needs to continue with the court proceedings.
Aminta has been unable to work since she went to prison. Thankfully, her oldest daughter was able to take over Aminta’s job for her when this all started 3 months ago so this is helping provide for the family’s basic needs.
She shares with us regularly how thankful she is for all of the prayers and support she is getting from Servants during this trying time and for how well her family was taken care of while she was away. Thank you for being a part of caring for Aminta and her family as we wait on the Lord’s justice in this situation!
