In our recent visit with Mirna she shared with us how grateful she and her family are for the provision of schooling for her children. They have been having many struggles lately just to have food, clothing, and shoes. Mirna expressed that if it were not for the provision through all of you the children would probably have had to stop going to school this year because there is just not enough money for the basic needs of the family let alone schooling. We at Servants are working to implement a system where we can help families like Mirna’s with their food needs and also educate them on what food choices are the healthiest to help avoid malnutrition. We want to do this in a way that does not create dependance, so please be in prayer with us as we seek the Lord on the best way to handle this. Another issue they are facing is that Oscar has a tooth growing in above his gum line. We are also going to see how we can help them with this so that this can be corrected before it gets worse.

Please pray for God to provide a way for us to help Oscar get his tooth fixed before it gets worse. Thankfully it is not causing him pain!
Oscar and Carmen are both doing ok in school. Carmen has had some issues with her school because things are very disorganized and it is not run as well as some of the other schools. Due to this Carmen will not be finishing school until mid November this year (children in Guatemala usually finish their school year in mid October) because of some delays with the school. We are looking into the possibility of changing her school for next year. Mirna also shared that Carmen was distracted from her school work for awhile by a boy who was giving her a lot of attention but as Mirna said “thankfully, he went away.”
Oscar had some problems in the middle of the year with his attitude and he said he didn’t want to go to school anymore. We discovered that the real issue was that he was missing his dad and he was struggling in some of his classes. Thankfully, Oscar came around and has again started putting effort back into his studies. Mirna expressed to us that sometimes she feels inadequate to help the kids with their school work because of her limited schooling but she is thankful that they are both doing the best they can.

Carmen’s most recent report card. Please continue to pray for her as you can see some of her grades have gone down this time but we are hoping that things will get better with the next semester.
Mirna also shared with us that they are having some issues because her husband is not coming to visit as often as he has in the past. He still visits about once a month but it is a difficult situation for all of them because they feel very hurt and abandoned by their father. Mirna and her children realize that God is in control of the situation but they need your prayers for healing and the ability to offer forgiveness to their husband/father.
Please also continue to pray for provision for this family for their food/clothing needs and that their would be peace in their home. Thank you for continuing to pray for and support this family.
Below are a few pictures of Mirna’s garden. She loves to garden and has done a beautiful job. It’s such a joy to see the beauty she has created at their home.
