The Mateo family has been facing a huge challenge: having their own house and having enough space where the kids can play and Ludwin and paint to earn the family money. This past week, they took one step closer to realizing their dream of owning their own land and building their own house! After much searching and discussion, we found them a house in Linda Vista to move into that has concrete walls, separate rooms, and outdoor patio, and is wheelchair accessible. They now live just a couple blocks from the church they will be attending (instead of having to ride 45 minutes on a bus). Their house opens right out onto the street (instead of having to haul Ludwin up and down a huge set of steep stairs). They no longer have to worry about stray bullets flying into their sheet metal home (they now are in a concrete house).
It took us the greater part of the day just to carry all of their household goods up to street level from where they live but once we got to their new place, more volunteers from their new church showed up and everything was unloaded in less than an hour! They then all enjoyed pizza and lemonade as the sun set. For this month, Servants through the family’s sponsors, is providing food until Ludwin gets his painting business started. Below are some pictures of the move.
- From this…
From this… …to this.
- the girls are saying goodbye to their neighbors
- one piece at a time
- Wilmer doing what he can
- Ludwin saying goodbye to friends
- doing their part
- almost done!
- talking with their cousin
- loading up the truck
- one more piece
- loaded!
- the dog doesn’t want to move
Please continue praying for the Mateos as they adjust to their new community!
