We recently had a great conversation with those who are taking care of Luis, Eric, and Marlin. This year, Eric was placed in a specialized class to help him recover the years he has lost in school. Even though he is 14 years old, he is still in 3rd grade. He struggles in some subjects and normal classes haven’t worked well for him over the past years. We just learned that not only is he excelling, but he actually is enjoying school! He comes home and does his homework without even being told. He even keeps trying to find ways to apply what he is learning at home, like how to make soap and shampoo from everyday household ingredients. We are thankful for your continued prayers and support that are helping Eric realize his potential and make up for time lost in school.
Luis seems to be struggling a bit in school and with his behavior. It seems that over the past few years, he has been constantly changing schools and this has made him a bit disillusioned. Every year he has to try to make new friends and this year it seems as though he might be making some not-so-good school companions. Luis’ caretakers are contemplating sending him to the same school as Eric next year, but also are unsure if this will be good or bad, since it will mean that he will be moving to a new school again. However, despite this hurdle, they know that he will get a better and more focused education in a more controlled classroom. Please pray for wisdom and guidance for this decision over the next year about Luis as well as his influences this year.
Marlin continues to excel in school and continues to overcome her challenges she had a few years ago. When the church family first took them in, she was the child with the most difficulty in school but last year scored higher than both her brothers! Please continue to pray for her achievement.
