Jorge continues to remain sober! It’s going to be 2 years now since he took his last drink. He continues to adjust to life without numbing his pain and the difficulties of life.
When we visited in September, he had just undergone hernia surgery and was recovering from it. We helped them with his antibiotic treatment, which is necessary to prevent infection, since they couldn’t afford it because he wasn’t able to work after the surgery.
We were also surprised to learn that Andre, his oldest son, had built a small house on the property to live in with his wife! It’s amazing to see how grown up these “kids” are that we met 12 years ago.
Carmen has recently been experiencing debilitating migraines and we were able to share with her some migraine medicine that was sent down with the last team. We are continuing to pray for them all as Jorge recovers and gets back into work. Carmen also expressed concern that although there are more people living there now, there is little to no sharing of the burden of costs, like electricity and water.
Please join us in prayer for this family as they continue to learn how to live together, work together, and ultimately that they would know God deeper!
