Olga has known this family for quite some time. Over the years, their situation has grown worse: Sandra suffered a stroke, the older children fight to keep regular jobs, and Juan, Sandra’s husband, has off and on again bouts of alcoholism. Living in a gang infested impoverished neighborhood, they need help to get the kids an education so they can break free from poverty.
Their youngest daughter also suffers from Down’s syndrome. The hospital threatened to take her because they deemed the family incapable of caring for her well. Sandra refused, however, so we have come alongside them to help them in this journey.
