Recently, Aminta and her children went through a difficult time as their father overdosed on alcohol and drugs. He was taken to the hospital but because they could only afford to take him to the public hospital there was very little that they could do for him other than give him time to see if this overdose would kill him. There was not treatment available and the hospital didn’t even have food to give him other than crackers so after a week they sent him home.
Aminta agreed to take him into their home until his brother could come get him as he was going to recuperate at his brother’s home. As it turned out due to some difficulties getting to Aminta’s house the brother didn’t make it in time and Aminta’s husband died a few days later.
Some of our missionaries have had a chance to talk with Aminta about this and Aminta has shared that while it is so sad to see him die it is also a relief to them because they know he isn’t suffering anymore and it has been a constant challenge for them to deal with this addiction and the affects it has had on their family.
One of our missionaries also has a father who has struggled with alcoholism so it has been a blessing for this missionary to share time with Aminta and her girls as they can relate to each other and help each other heal from the effects that come from having a family member who struggles with an addiction.
Please continue to pray for Aminta and her family to heal from this loss and from the effects that this addiction had on all of them.
On a much happier note last week at church one of Aminta’s long time prayers was answered as one of her sons and his wife reconciled with the Lord. One of the things Aminta constantly asks for us to pray about is for her children to come to know the Lord. It brings us such joy to share in this new life that her son and daughter-in-law have found.
Please continue to pray for Aminta’s other 2 sons and her other daughter-in-law to give their lives to the Lord and for her younger children to continue to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Thank you all for your continued prayers, love, and support for this family!
