This past week has been a tough week for Aminta and her family. Last Saturday, Dilan, one of Aminta’s grandsons, had some medical issues. He has had stomach issues and Saturday when Aminta went to change his diaper she realized that his rectum was inverted. This was very scary for her and for Dilan’s parents but thankfully Dilan was not in any pain from it. Aminta told us that Dilan never even realized anything was wrong until Aminta got upset.
Thankfully, some of the leaders from Aminta’s church were able to come and take him to the doctor. But this added even more stress to Dilan’s mom, Audi, because she and Dilan’s dad, Cesar, have not had steady work for several months and they didn’t know how they were going to pay for it. The doctor was able to treat Dilan and give him some medication for his stomach. Thankfully, through the SARF ministry the doctor was paid and the medicine that Dilan needed was able to be bought.
Sadly, his rectum became inverted again this past Thursday night and this time they took Dilan to the local hospital. They were not able to do much for him there because the hospital where they went cannot do surgery and the doctor at the hospital thinks that Dilan might need surgery to fix this problem completely. The family could not do anything that night because they have no money to pay for a surgery. Thankfully, the doctor gave them a stronger medicine to heal Dilan’s stomach issues. The doctor said that he believes Dilan has a tapeworm because he is very small for his age and he is showing signs of malnourishment even though, according to his family, he’s always eating. The doctor believes that this inverted rectum happened from Dilan straining when he goes to the bathroom and the medicine will kill the tapeworm which will hopefully stop this issue from repeating.
Aminta was told on Friday night by one of the women in her church that there is another hospital close by that does not charge for operations if the family cannot afford to pay for it so there is an option there if surgery is needed. Then last night Dilan started to have some blood in his stools again so Aminta called some of our missionaries to ask for a ride to the other hospital she heard about Friday night. The doctors at the other hospital told them that because the blood is only in Dilan’s stool and he is not actually bleeding from his rectum and his rectum has not inverted again he does not need surgery. The doctors feel that Dilan has another infection (different from the tape worm) and this is what is causing the bleeding. So they gave him some medicine and we are all praying that this time it will be what he needs to completely cure him from all of these issues. Please pray with us that the Lord will completely heal Dilan and that no surgery is needed because he is so young (3 years old) and all of us do not want him to have to go through surgery. Please also pray that they do not need to take Dilan to the hospital again as it is usually a 5 – 6 hour trip/visit each time and it’s hard for such a little guy.
Please also pray for Dilan’s mom and dad to find steady work so that they can continue to provide for their family. They are so grateful for the help the received but at the same time they feel bad that they can’t take care of their son as he struggles with these issues.
We will keep you updated as we know more. Thank you for continuing to pray for this family!

Here’s a picture of sweet little Dilan. Please pray for his complete healing!
