In our last post about Maria we shared how she had enjoyed celebrating her birthday with some friends. However, the day after her birthday she was hit with a lot of stomach issues.
She got better for awhile but a few weeks later her pain returned and has not gone away. She has seen her doctor about this and she has taken many pills to try to heal whatever is going on in her intestinal system but nothing has helped. A few days ago she started passing blood when she went to the bathroom and her doctor told her they need to do a CT scan of her abdomen to find out what is going on.
Maria is very discouraged from being sick for so long and because the CT scan costs Q1,600 (about $215). A family member and a friend were able to give her some of the money so she has Q600 (about $80) saved for the test but she did not know where the other Q1,000 ($135) would come from. She humbly asked if Servants could help her and explained to our missionaries that she hates asking and she feels ashamed but she doesn’t have another option. We assured her that she has no reason to feel ashamed and that thanks to faithful sponsorships there is money available to help her get this test. So some of our missionaries will be taking her this coming Saturday morning to get the test she needs.
Please pray for healing and that the tests would show what is wrong so the doctors know how to treat her. Please also pray that she would no longer feel discouraged by all of this and that she would have peace and comfort during this difficult time. Maria has expressed many times how thankful she is for everyone at Servants and how she feels like we are part of her family because we all love and care for her so well. Thank you for being a part of showing the love of Christ to this sweet woman!
