The other week Olga sent a message to one of the missionary couples who their family is close to because she needed to talk with them about some things with Beverly’s schooling.  When they arrived they could tell Beverly and Olga were both very upset and so they sat down to talk.

Olga had Beverly share what was going on because she wanted her to take responsibility to share about her actions.  Beverly has been having some trouble with one of the boys at school and over the last few months she and this boy have had some unpleasant interactions.  The school had been in communication with Olga about this and the school administrators were working with the families of both children to try to fix this issue.  It all came to a head when the boy asked to borrow something of Beverly’s and she gave it to him but when he returned it to her he had used all of what she had leant him.  This upset Beverly because she didn’t expect him to use all of it and she was trying to be nice by helping him out with what he asked for despite their past issues.  Some words were exchanged and it ended up in Beverly hurting the boy.  While it was not a very serious injury the school administration had to take action because they cannot permit students to hurt one another.

They were going to kick Beverly out of the school but Olga worked it out with them that Beverly could have the option of studying in the afternoons rather than in the mornings.  This way she would be separate from this boy and it would also be a punishment for Beverly because she would be separated from all of her friends as well.  However, Olga and Beverly wanted to see if this was ok with Servants first because of Beverly’s behavior.

Servants decided to allow her to have this second opportunity but we had a long talk with her about the importance of handling herself well and correctly dealing with her emotions.  The missionary couple asked her to write a letter of apology to the boy whom she hurt and also asked her to write a paper on the meaning of several different bible verses dealing with anger and revenge.

We also reminded her that she is a child of God and that this is not how children of God treat other people.  We encouraged her to remember that she belongs to Jesus now and to told her to continue to pray and ask Him to change her character defects because He is the only one who can change the character defects that we all have.  We spent a lot of time praying with the family, encouraging them to forgive each other, because Olga and Beverly were very upset with each other, and we were able to remind Beverly that we all make mistakes and the most important thing is that we learn from those mistakes.

Beverly has started studying in the afternoons and she tells us that it’s hard because all of her friends study in the mornings and there are not many kids who study in the afternoons but she also says she is thankful to still have the opportunity to continue studying because finishing her studies is one of her goals for her life.

Please continue to pray for this whole situation and that the Lord would show Beverly how He wants to use this difficult time to grow her and change her into the young woman that He has created her to be.  Thank you for all of your love, prayers and support for this family!
