It has been a difficult year for Jackeline and her family as they have mourned the death of her mother Sandra. Losing Sandra was very difficult for everyone in the family as she was very special to all of them. The kids, especially Jairo, have struggled a lot with losing their grandmother so soon after the death of their father. Jairo was having some serious issues in his grieving process but, thanks to the faithful support of family sponsors, he was able to start seeing a counselor and is doing much better. Jackeline shared with us a few weeks ago that she has seen a lot of good changes in Jairo since he started seeing the counselor and she is going to have him stop seeing the counselor for now. We are making sure we stay updated on the situation and asked her to please let us know if there are any problems that start as we want to make sure Jairo continues to do well.
The kids are both doing well in school and passed all their classes this most recent bi-mester. Their total grades are low in some of their classes because of the struggles they had earlier in the year but we are hoping that during this last bi-mester they will do well enough to bring the grades up to a final passing grade in all of their classes.
Jairo is having health issues with masses that appeared. It was a difficult few weeks as the family waited for him to be able to get testing done but thankfully the masses are not cancerous. The doctor’s are going to keep an eye on the masses and see if he might need surgery to remove them.
Jackeline has started selling beauty products from a company from the states and although she struggles because she does not like being a sales woman she is doing well and making enough to provide for the basic needs of the family. It is such a blessing that Jackeline has finally found some work and is able to provide for her family’s food and basic necessities.
Jackeline shared with us that she and the kids have started attending a church that is close to their house. They are enjoying the church and we are so thankful that they have found a church family with whom they can connect and grow spiritually. Our missionaries have been encouraging them for a long time to get involved with a congregation to help them through the difficult times they are experiencing and we are so grateful that the Lord is moving in their hearts and drawing them closer to Him!
Please continue to pray for the family as they are coming up on the one year anniversary of the passing of Sandra. Healing from this loss is a slow process but they are making progress and for that we are all grateful!
