“Carmen’s having stomach pain and I don’t know what to do” was the frantic response that came through when one of our missionaries answered Mirna’s call one night at 9 p.m.   “Call the ambulance and have them take her to the hospital” he responded, knowing that the ambulance would be able to get her to the hospital much more quickly than we could.  They would also be able to give her any treatment that she needed along the way.

Thank the Lord the ambulance got her to the hospital quickly because the doctors soon found out that Carmen had appendicitis and needed to have surgery to remove it.  Unfortunately, Carmen was out with her boyfriend when all this started so Mirna did not go to the hospital with the ambulance.  The doctors could not legally do surgery on her until Mirna was there to sign the consent because Carmen is a minor.  Thankfully, Mirna made it to the hospital as quickly as she could and they were able to do the surgery before the appendix burst.

Carmen is currently recovering from her surgery and is doing much better.  Sadly, she missed her exams during the last week of school because of all of this.  However, she was able to make up the work and she passed her year of schooling.  She continues to struggle with accounting so please be praying for her in that.  Oscar also passed his year of school and will be moving on.

Mirna is selling bread from her home to help provide for the family.  Although, she does not make much it is something she has been able to do steadily for the last several months to help with the family’s expenses.

Please continue to pray for healing for Carmen and for her/Oscar in their studies.  Please also pray for provisions for the family not just materially but spiritually.  They often have many struggles in their relationships with each other and we keep trying to make them see that Jesus is the only one who can bring about the healing and change they need.

Thank you for your continued love, prayers and support for this family!

Carmen worked very hard in school this year! So hard that at one point we captured this picture of her without her knowing 🙂 Please pray that she would have wisdom and understanding as she moves forward in her studies!
