As we shared in our last update Olga and her family were really struggling with several difficulties. We are happy to share that things have been going better for them over the last few months.
Olga’s father recently had surgery and is doing much better. She has only had to make one trip to Honduras recently and it was just for a few days so her kids and husband are happy to have her with them regularly again.
The kids all passed their year of school and are excited to start their next year which will begin this month. Olga and the kids are very happy with the schools that they are enrolled in and are so thankful for the continued support to make this possible.
Another difficulty that Olga and her husband have been struggling with for the past year is the process of trying to get her residency paperwork in order. When Olga was originally brought to Guatemala she was brought illegally and because of this she has never had legal paperwork. This has created many difficulties for her as she cannot get a steady job without this paperwork, she cannot continue in her studies (which she has a strong desire to do), and she is not able to have legal custody of her kids because her kids were born in Guatemala. They had a lawyer from her husband’s work helping her for free but he said he cannot help any longer so the process has been stalled for several months. Olga and her family are barely making enough to care for themselves and they do not have the extra money to put towards getting Olga’s residency paperwork.
Thankfully, a sponsor who was supporting another woman to get her chef degree recently heard about Olga’s story. The sponsor has decided to continue giving even though the other woman has completed her chef degree. The money will now go towards Olga’s residency paperwork.
When we shared this with Olga she was in tears and said she is so thankful with the Lord for providing for this need! She said that she did not know how she and her family were ever going to be able to pay for the paperwork but that she just kept praying and knew that God would help them somehow.
Please join us in praising God for His continued care and provisions for Olga’s family. We are so thankful that things are going more smoothly for them now and that Olga will finally be able to move forward in her goals once she has her legal paperwork for Guatemala.
Thank you all for your continued prayers, love, encouragement and support for Olga and her family!
Over Christmas we had a friend visiting who is a professional photographer and he was able to take some pictures to bless the families we serve! Here is a picture of Olga and her family that we would like to share with all of you:
