It is with much sadness and a little joy that we are contacting you about the passing of our sweet Maria Monroy.  On June 29 of this year, she silently went to be with our Lord in her sleep.  Despite her usual body aches and pains she was still active and interacting with her family members.  Her cousin Carlos, who spent a lot of time caring for her and helping her run her little store had taken her to his house to spend some time with his family and she passed away that evening.  It comforts us to know she wasn’t alone in her final moments.
Her niece who lived on the property with her said that she had been a little depressed in the days leading up to her passing, as was normal for Maria.  Maria had said things like, “you won’t forget me when I’m gone, will you?” and looking back they feel as though Maria knew that her time was near.  However, Maria was never short for words when it came to asking the Lord to take her home as she suffered a lot of physical ailments as well as emotional sadness and anxiety.  We rest calmly in the Lord knowing that she is now with Him and is no longer suffering in her broken body in this broken world.
Her body is laid to rest next to her sister who passed away only a few years ago.  Maria never stopped grieving for her sister as she was her closest family member and best friend.
Please join us in praying for peace and comfort for Maria’s surviving family members.  Her niece and niece’s husband, as well as her niece’s sister have been given permission by the land owner to move into the house.  They are currently cleaning it out and preparing it to move into but it is a hard emotional process as well since it involves to accepting the loss of their cherished Aunt Maria.  We have extended our hands to help in any way we can and will continue to visit with the family to grow in the relationship God has formed between Servants and the Monroy family.
