This is how you directly translate the phrase used in Guatemala when you are trying to say that you are pushing forward. We have seen an increased effort by this family since our last update.
Kesler seems to be putting more effort into his studies. He understands the importance of doing well in school as Olga constantly reminds him. Continue to pray for discipline, patience, and knowledge as he tries to finish the school year on a strong note.
Byron continues to do well and as a reward, Elias is teaching him how to ride a motorcycle! They keep close watch over him, but he enjoys riding in circles in front of their house. Please continue to pray for his ongoing success and motivation in school. Recently, like most schools in Guatemala, his class had a “market day” where they dress up in various outfits that represent the Guatemalan culture and bring in food to sell. The proceeds usually go towards class projects or a trip they take. Olga was so proud of how handsome he looked that she sent us some pictures to share. “I don’t know why he thinks he has to look so serious,” she laughed.
Beverly continues to do well in school as well and it appears she has a new boyfriend. We will be asking her more about him, although a couple months ago she said that they are just friends, it appears they have grown closer since then! Please pray for God’s direction in their lives and the discipline to make their studies a priority over their relationship and that He would be the center of it.
Elias continues to do well at work, although it is tiring driving around all day every day. He told us that two weeks ago a pallet loaded with cables crushed his foot. Miraculously, nothing broke, but he is still recovering as the pain lingers. Please pray for complete healing!
Olga is excited because she just submitted her paperwork for her residency in Guatemala! It’s been a long journey thus far as she has had to go to Honduras to get some identification papers settled and notarized to submit to Guatemalan immigration. Please pray for favor throughout the process and praise God for providing for it!
