We just wanted to send a quick note to let you all know that Jorge went to rehab 2 nights ago.  He is in a 8-10 month Christ centered recovery center that doesn’t just focus on recovering from alcoholism, but discipleship as a follower of Jesus.

Jorge said it is hard to leave his family behind for such a long time but he knows it is what is necessary.  We will be looking after Carmen and Brandon while he is not around to make sure that all is taken care of on the home front.  Carmen was very appreciative of us helping Jorge and said that the time he is away will be a good time for her to recover as well from the stress she has had in living with him and his alcoholism over the years. Just as we were leaving the house Kevin and Brandon were coming home, so they had an opportunity to say goodbye just as Jorge left.  It was an emotional moment for everyone.

Although Jorge can have no contact with outside family for the first 2 months, we will be calling on a regular basis to see how he is progressing and will keep you updated accordingly.  Please continue to pray for Jorge as the beginning stages of detoxification are very difficult on the body and mind.  It is a voluntary program, so he can leave whenever he wants.  Thankfully, it’s an hour away from his home so that creates a little motivation to stay the course as he would have no way of getting home should he decide to leave.
