Jackeline and her kids have recently been struggling with relational issues inside and outside of their family.

Jairo continues to struggle in school  We have been working hard alongside Jackeline to get him extra help through tutoring.  In April we hired a tutor to meet with him after school throughout the week but she quickly lost interest.  Thankfully, his current teacher recently finished studying for her psychology degree and now has extra time during the afternoons to help him and has offered to do so.  Jackeline, however, has encountered resistance from the school director for some reason, who maintains that Jairo has a behavioral issue.  We have begun looking into the legal requirements of schools in Guatemala as to what they must provide for students and are working with Jackeline to encourage her to discuss these issues with the school director.

Additionally, the family has had some issues at home.  Jackeline’s two sisters, whom she does not get along with very well, live in the house as well as Jackeline’s dad.  He continues to battle prostate cancer and has avoided “getting in the middle” of the two sisters treating Jackeline poorly.  In a recent discussion with our missionaries, Jackeline confessed that she simply doesn’t have anyone to talk to.  We have begun to minister to her by getting her out of the house for a breath of fresh air and surrounding her with true Christian companionship.  Below is a picture of our most recent outing.

Jackeline has found a short term job entering financial data into the company’s computer system.  They tell her the position is just temporary but she is praying that they will see value in her work ethic and bring her on full time.  Meanwhile, she continues to search and apply for other jobs in the area.

Please continue to pray for this family’s perseverance through troubles and against a depressive spirit that continues to attack them.  Also for a steady job for Jackeline so she can move into her own apartment to provide a safe and peaceful home environment for her and her kids.
