The Lopez kids are doing well, as usual.  However, Luis and Marlin have recently been suffering with stomach illnesses.  On top of the current pandemic, Guatemala seems to be fighting against a rash of stomach bugs going around (more than usual).  Being in a house of around 15 people, it is difficult to keep everyone healthy at once and when someone contracts a bug, they tend to spread it around to others.  Additionally, the rainy season has also brought the usual bi-annual allergy season!  Jorge and Shirly have also had their bouts of sickness to fight through even as they continue to care for others at the House of Refuge.

Since the kids are homeschooled, their studies have not suffered at all as the learning environment hasn’t changed much for them.  Luis, although now in high school, is used to the distance learning model his school has had to adapt to this year and he hasn’t missed a beat!  Marlin, as you may recall, has been also taking clarinet classes.  Recently she had to take her clarinet in for repairs which they thought would only cost about $10-15 but upon further inspection discovered that it needs a makeover.  They asked if we could help and we discerned that we would as a ministry in order to help her continue in her extracurricular activities.  We are happy to see her advance in her education and with a discipline that has really helped her adapt through her teenage years.

Please pray for the health of not only the kids, but the entire family as they have really been struggling with the majority of the adults under the weather that care for everyone else!
