The Lopez kids are off to a great year and we have some exciting news to share about them. Where to start???

Marlin is in her final year of middle school. She is still learning under the homeschool program that Shirley has been using to teach all their kids from home. However, since she has been doing so well and expressed an interested in taking classes at a local beauty school, we are helping her through those classes! She recently practiced “curling” on one of our local missionaries.

Luis has entered his first year of…college! He is studying business administration so when he graduates he can start his own businesses to be self sufficient.

Josue has started his first year of high school. He was looking at taking some technical classes which would be 5 days a week but instead decided to take general courses this year so he can work during the week and keep up with his studies at his own pace. He had asked us for help, however, in getting his driver’s license! His current goal for working is to save up enough money to buy his own motorcycle. The gentleman he is working for offered to loan him a motorcycle in the meantime. We told Josue that we could help but only if he saves up to pay for half. “Let us know when you have it,” we told him, “and we will help with the rest.”

“I have it!” he said to our surprise. He had been saving up already with the odd jobs he found and had enough to meet the quota he needed for his half of his driver’s license.

Additionally, Josue will be joining us in our 30 Minutes in Guatemala video call on April 13th! Be sure to register here for your chance to interact with him and hear a little about his story first hand!
