Recently we were able to spend some time with the pastoral family taking care of the Lopez kids. One of their sponsors came to visit and we enjoyed the afternoon playing games, having lunch, and catching up. Luis has had to stop attending college this year because he did not pass his first semester. He will have to retake it in the beginning of next year as it is a requirement to continue studying the following semesters. Since we helped by paying for his tuition, we told him that he will need to pay for the semester to take it again and once he passes, we will reevaluate continuing to help. While he said it was a bit difficult, we continue to offer help when it is needed and also we know that since everything is virtual right now, he simply had to prioritize his work and turn it in on time to pass, which didn’t seem to happen. We are waiting to see what happens next year.

Marlin and Josue continue to attend school and Marlin is enjoying her beauty school classes. Josue was working when we visited, so we did not get to see him but we made sure to leave behind some pizza for him to enjoy when he got home. Both it seems have been slipping in their intentionality to study and complete their school work. We are working with Shirley to find out how to motivate them to do their part because if they don’t, they could lose this opportunity! Hopefully he will be able to run the 5k with us on the 14th!
