We had the pleasure of spending some time with Oti and Hector. Hector seems to be recovering well, despite his self-medicating with alcohol. He has been able to resume work in his shop, which he moved into the back of the property at the house where they are living. He has 3 workers and a nephew with him. While he gave us a peak into his shop, we did not take photos 🙁 However, business is going well!
Hector’s shop is a metal foundry. They create many things using forms and lathes, mostly in aluminum. He was showing us that they get many orders from tool shops asking for metal formed numbers and letters that folks put on signs and houses! This creates a regular income for them.
Oti was telling us that she is still struggling with knee issues. She felt like she was getting the run-around at the clinic that was offering to help with surgery and gave up trying to go. She still struggles to keep her balance and has fallen a few times. She has a cane, which she uses when she has to leave the house but doesn’t like to use it as much around the house unless she absolutely needs to. Recently, she fell into a mild depression, thinking back to all her memories of family members that have passed away and would suddenly find herself crying for “no reason”. However, she is getting better and was glad to see us. She said that having contact with our team lifts her spirits. Please continue to pray for their protection from COVID as well as continued work for Hector and his shop.
