It is with deep regret that we inform you all that Mr. Ricardo, Ilsa’s husband, passed away this morning at 1 am Guatemala time. Ilsa sent us a message letting us know, but without any other information. We have heard mixed reports about how they are handling the bodies of patients that die with COVID, so we do not know if they will have regular services as usual.

Normally, when someone passes away, due to the lack of the embalming process, the body is prepared for an over night vigil/viewing, then the family carries the body to the cemetary the next morning for burial. We are looking for how we can help the family but right now since they are in quarantine because everyone either has or suspected to have COVID, nobody is leaving the house. A few days ago we took them a few bags of food, knowing that all those who earn money from the family cannot currently work and nobody is supposed to leave the house.
