Ok, so they’re not really blue suede shoes but they are new shoes and Byron is very excited about them so please don’t step on them! 🙂

Our missionaries in Guatemala recently learned that Byron was having trouble participating in gym class in school because his old sneakers were falling apart.  His mom, Olga, tried sewing them because they could not afford to buy him new shoes at this time.  The stitching didn’t hold for very long and once again Byron was in need of shoes.  Olga shared this concern during a discussion with one of our missionaries and we are so thankful she did.  Because of the faithful support of the Mercado family’s sponsors there is money available for needs such as these.  So last week we took Byron and Olga shopping to get Byron some new shoes.

Byron was so happy when we told him he didn't have to wear his dress shoes anymore and could wear his new shoes home.

It's so heartwarming to see how something as simple as a new pair of shoes can bring such happiness

Thank you all who continue to support the Mercado family prayerfully and financially.  You are making a difference in their lives.  Olga constantly tells us that she is so grateful for how God continues to provide for her family and that it is humbling to her that people in the United States think about, pray for, and love her family.  Please continue to pray for God’s provision for this family. While they are incredibly grateful for the support from their sponsors they also have a strong desire to provide for themselves.  We could see that despite Olga’s gratefulness it was hard for her to accept this gift as she was very careful in trying to find good shoes that weren’t too expensive.
