We wanted to send a quick update about Aminta’s legal process as we find out more information, we will let you know.
Last night we learned that the judge has declared that Aminta will not go to jail for the charges brought against her as there is no sufficient evidence to prove she is guilty. Some of the “evidence” included falsified documents and false witness testimony. A supposed eyewitness was brought in by the prosecution that saw her involved with these folks and his testimony was, “I’ve never seen that woman in my life and don’t know anything about her. They asked me to come in and say that I saw her exchanging money.”
Additionally, supposedly there were police reports of her having traffic violations both as a motorcycle and car driver when she doesn’t even have a license or know how to drive!
It is also quite obvious to the court that Aminta is a poor single woman trying to support her family. If she was involved with all the things she was accused of, she would have a lot more to show for it!
Currently, Aminta remains on house arrest until the whole case is finalized. Next week she will learn if she needs to continue traveling to her hometown (about 4 hours away) to sign a book every two weeks to prove she has not fled the country to avoid prosecution. The lawyers have “heard a rumor” that 6 of the defendants will be released completely free without any charges against them. We are certainly hoping Aminta is one of them!
Thank you for your continued prayers! We will update you next week once we know more!
