Thanks to a donation from a sponsor, we are able to help Carmen with a new business idea that she came up with!

Carmen’s high school program was focused on nursing. She learned all sorts of basic medical skills and hopes to one day attend a veterinarian college program.

Something that is common in Guatemala is folks with medical conditions that need to monitor their health but cannot afford the Q150 ($20) consult it usually requires to do so or prefer not to stand in line for hours on end to get into the free clinic. Additionally, certain vitamins or treatments are often prescribed via injection, but the patient must purchase it from the pharmacy and inject it themselves! This is where Carmen comes in.

The generous donation helped the ministry to purchase the equipment necessary for Carmen to start the side business that she agreed to pay back little by little! We are using this as an opportunity not only to help her in this sustainable solution for providing for herself and her family but also to teach her how to think ahead and follow a business plan. Although it might be quite small, it is a way she can develop critical thinking, future planning, and personal financial skills.

She loves to help people and this is a way she can serve people in her community and make a little cash on the side!

Her kit includes a blood pressure cuff, blood sugar meter, thermometer, nebulizer, and oximeter
