Sarai, Aminta’s granddaughter, has been experiencing some excruciating pains in her abdomen. Today when we visited the family, Aminta asked us to pray for her. Upon asking why they haven’t tried taking her to the hospital, Aminta said, “we don’t have any money.” They have phones, but no minutes nor money to recharge the phone to call anyone. With the local economy shut down due to the Coronavirus situation, they are pretty much just stuck in their house.
They went to a pharmacy to try to get some help. The pharmacist sold them some medicine to reduce the pain and swelling and it worked yesterday but today the pain returned and has been coming and going. Since there is a countrywide curfew that starts at 4 pm every day until 4 am the next day and it was already 2 pm, we realized that the window to get her to a hospital was closing quickly. We do have, thankfully, the option of an ambulance. Additionally, there was great concern about how to get back from the hospital, given nobody is allowed to be on the streets until 4 am and ambulances don’t offer the service of taking you back home after surgery.
In the process of trying to coordinate an ambulance for Sarai, the local pastor sent someone they know who is studying medicine currently. They were able to check better than we could and injected her with an anti-inflammatory which helped. We were ready to have the ambulance come to their house, so at the very least the doctor on board could check her out. “It’s ok,” Aminta assured us. “She is better now. The pain is gone and we are trusting the Lord that she is healed.”
An hour later the pains returned and Aminta called us asking for help to get an ambulance to take them to the hospital. We are currently taking care of getting her there. The good thing about the curfew is that there is absolutely no traffic and the ambulance should get to the house and then the hospital in record time.
Continue to join us in prayer for this dear child as we are believing in God’s provision to completely heal Sarai.
