In May, a missions team came down and blessed the family with a new wall on the back of their property.  This gave them not only a more secure house, but more room and most importantly, protection from flooding during the rainy season.  They are very blessed by this gift.  It has motivated the family to do more work on their house to make it even better and they are striving to that end.

They also recently mourned the loss of a family member who lived across the street.  Fidel’s daughter, Mimi, had an 11 year old special needs girl who had a fever after birth and it caused brain damage.  She had multiple medical issues her whole life.  Recently, it appeared her body’s organs began to grow, although her external body was still stuck as one of a 6 year old.  This caused much internal pain and discomfort.  After multiple trips to the hospital and various tests to figure out how to help her, she began to get better.  Then, one night, her heart stopped and they discovered she had passed away in the middle of the night.

We accompanied the family during the funeral service and provided some basic needs, however it was amazing to see the neighbors and surrounding community band together to help the family through the whole process.  Please pray for them as they mourn the loss of this special child, knowing that she is no longer suffering.
