Ilsa and Dincy have not been getting along which has resulted in Dincy moving out of the house. She is currently living on the same street but in the house of her boyfriend and his family. Dincy has been struggling with feelings of not being loved (so she says) but we believe this is a result of her teenage rebellion and wanting to be “free”. Despite Ilsa trying to make things right with her, Dincy decided she could no longer live in the house. We learned that she has also been hanging around a new group of friends who tend to be a bad influence on her. Our desire is to see her flourish into the woman God created her to be, but that will only be possible if she is willing to follow His ways. We, along with Ilsa, continue to pray for her and ask you to do the same. We are monitoring her progress in school even more closely now. We will soon be having a discussion with Ilsa, Dincy, and her boyfriend about how he intends to care for her. He told Ilsa that he will provide what she needs, as is expected of the men in this culture in situations like this. We are hoping to impress upon them that being a responsible adult isn’t just about moving out of the house and having “freedom” to do whatever you want, but taking responsibility for yourself and those around you. Please pray for God’s wisdom in this conversation.
Jairo is doing better in school and has begun participating more in church! He also continues to attend a youth group sponsored by Servants missionaries in the area. He has been growing closer to his uncles, Ilsa’s sons, who live in the house with them and they are a positive influence on his life. Please continue to pray for his growth and relationship with the Lord.
Ilsa is also working on starting her own sewing business, putting to use the various classes she took over the past two years that were offered by the municipality. She is putting together a budget for start-up materials and will soon present it to us to see how we can help. Please pray for her business to grow and help provide income for the family.
