Pedro’s family is enjoying their new home, where there is more space for little Alejandro to run around in, the walls are made of concrete, and everyone has enough room for themselves.  Here’s a short clip of our team spending time in their new home.

Juanita has been battling some pretty intense migraines the past couple of months.  We were able to encourage her to go to the local medical clinic where she can start getting treatment. Please pray for her complete healing from whatever it is that is causing these headaches that completely incapacitate her!

Jacinto had been laid off from his job for a couple of months, but the company called him and asked him to come back and start working again now that their store is able to be open again.  Eva also got a job at a local used clothing store!  Juanita has also been able to continue working at a small factory where they make handbags to sell to tourists and Pedro has been making his own handicrafts with Juanita’s help at home.  They are making masks, bags, and tablecloths from home and selling them to people within their community.

Katy is doing well in school and is excited to graduate this year!  Although there may not be an actual graduation ceremony, she is looking forward to completing this stage of her life and move on to the next.  Right now, it is still undecided if she will pursue college or try to get hired as a bilingual secretary.

Maty, on the other hand, has decided to live with a secret boyfriend she has had for some time.  She is still in communication with her family and they have even met him.  Her sudden disappearance left the family in shock and they were very upset that they couldn’t bring themselves to tell us for a few months because it was too painful to discuss.  One day she told them she was going to run some errands and even dissuaded Juanita from going with her, which seemed a little odd to them but they didn’t think much of it at the time.  When she didn’t return right away, they got concerned but she called them that night telling them she had moved in with him and is now living in Antigua.  She seems to be doing well and Pedro and Juanita are still processing through the emotions of it.  While they wish she had had the confidence to discuss it with them, they also agree with her that they would have tried to talk her out of it until they got to know him better.  Sadly, this is many times the case in situations where the girl doesn’t think the family will approve and instead of talking about it, decide to “run off” and hope for the best.  Thankfully, she is still in touch with her family and they are all trying to work through it together.
