Aminta’s housing situation has been one of her biggest struggles.  She moved to Linda Vista, Guatemala because the land was cheap and she hoped to restart her life with her kids.  Unfortunately, the land she bought is on the edge of a hill which overtime has been slowly washing away.  Since she lives at the bottom edge near a cliff, rainy season proves to be quite taxing as all the runoff pours down to her land before it goes over the edge, taking pieces of her land with it.  Until recently, her house was made of rotted wood beams and deteriorating sheet metal.  A few weeks ago, a missions team that works with City of Refuge Church (of which she is a regular attendee) came to Guatemala to help build her a new house out of concrete block!  The team poured the foundation and built the walls halfway up before they had to return to the united states.

The team’s efforts motivated the surrounding community to help.  Everyone that was able chipped in by helping move the many blocks required for construction, mixing cement, and rotating in and out to relive workers from the heat.  Even though the team left, the community guided by a local contractor who is a leader in the church will continue building Aminta’s house.  The contractor estimates the house will be finished in 2-3 more weeks
