We are VERY excited to share this update with you.  After many years of struggle, heartache, and what seemed to be everything coming against her, Olga has started taking classes again!  Even though she stopped going to school in the middle of 2nd grade in Honduras, she was able to test out at a 3rd-grade level and this year (thanks to being able to get her Guatemalan residency sorted out) began taking accelerated primary school classes for adults!  This year she will be completing 4th and 5th grade and next year 6th.  After that, she will be able to take accelerated adult classes to pass middle school.

She will be attending school the next two years until she passes primary levels and then will be attending a different school for her middle and high school courses.  This is the only school she found that offers the adult level primary classes she needs to take.  It is the same school that Kesler and Beverly attend.  A great testimony to how God continues to help her is that she wasn’t planning on having to take tests two weeks ago as she just started.  Normally, the school will give her two tests at once as a make-up and to give her time to catch up.  They administered the test anyway and she passed because she said she knew the material already!

Beverly started high school this year.  In Guatemala, high school is when you choose a career path, much like a technical school.  Beverly decided to pursue a career as an office secretary.  Her course will take two years to complete.

Kesler did not do so well on his make-up tests in January so he is repeating a grade.  He understands the importance of doing better this year as he could lose his scholarship if he fails again.  We are working alongside him to make sure he gets the help he needs should he struggle again this year and we stressed the seriousness of asking us for help when he needs it.  Last year he struggled in a couple of classes but said he was getting help on his own.  Later we found out that he wasn’t applying himself and putting the importance he needed to on his studies.

Byron continues to do very well and is advancing in his studies.  He has grown to enjoy school because he is excelling and doing well.

Additionally, Olga and Elias graduated their 2 year long ASELSI study!  This was a 2 year seminary course they attended through the church.  They are very happy to have been able to be a part of it.

Additionally, Olga asks for prayer regarding the case of her kids.  She had a surprise hearing in front of a new judge who is very strict.  He wants to fully investigate the situation.  Olga is concerned it will cause issues with the kids’ dad and her sister who are involved but neither are willing to do their part.  If they do not comply and appear to the next hearing which is in May, they may be subject to legal action.
