Olga was illegally brought to Guatemala from Honduras at a very young age and has never been able to get her Guatemalan residency.  This is a very expensive process totaling about $900 – $1000.  When Olga married a Guatemalan man they thought the process would become easier.  For a while they had a lawyer helping them for free as a favor to Olga’s husband.  However, after taking the process so far the lawyer was unable to continue helping them.  Olga was praying for God to provide for this need because she really needs to get her Guatemalan residency paperwork.  Without her legal papers she cannot get a steady job, she cannot go back to school (which she has wanted to do for years), and she cannot have legal custody of her children who were born in Guatemala.  Even though she has a Honduran passport, she still has to travel to Honduras every three months to reset her Guatemalan travel visa.  Thankfully, the Lord answered Olga’s prayers in January by putting it on someone’s heart to pay for Olga’s residency paperwork process.  We are so thankful for this incredible blessing for Olga and her family!

Since January, Olga has been working to get all of the paperwork that the lawyer filed so that she can start the process over with another lawyer.  As with many things here it is taking a long time but we are seeing progress being made slowly but surely.  Within the next few months Olga will need to travel to Honduras for a few days to request her background check.  It then has to be notarized by both Honduran and Guatemalan governments in her home country so that she can move forward with getting residency in Guatemala.

Please pray for Olga and her family during this process.  She does not know when she will be able to go to Honduras ow how long she will need to stay there but she was waiting until after the Easter holiday to start making plans.  Please pray that her time in Honduras goes quickly and that her children are well cared for while she is gone.

One benefit to Olga having to go back to Honduras is that she will get to see her family again.  Her dad has been struggling off and on with chronic illness and her mother, brothers and sisters are not caring for him well.  Olga would like to bring her dad to live with her family here in Guatemala but they are not in a place where they can afford to do that right now, so Olga is thankful that she will have some time to visit with them and help care for her dad.

Please pray for healing for Olga’s dad and for her family to care for him as he needs to be cared for so that he does not get worse.

Olga’s children are doing well in school this year and have all said that they like their teachers.  Kesler, her oldest child, is learning English this year and told us that he really likes learning it.  Beverly, Olga’s middle child, has had a boyfriend for the last few months.  This makes Olga nervous but she is happy they are having an open relationship rather than sneaking around and doing things that could get them in trouble. Please continue to pray for the kids to do well in school and for them to make wise choices in their lives.  Please also pray for Olga, her husband, and the father of the children and they lead the kids and help them to navigate life.

Thank you for your continued love, prayers, and support for this family!
