It is with great sadness that we update you on the status of the Fabian family.

About a month ago, we visited the Fabian family in order to start the process of getting Jeremias enrolled in school for next year. There was an awkward air about the home. Nobody said much, they all seemed depressed, and Jeremiah told us he was no longer interested in going back to school next year. It was difficult to discern and also get answers as to what was going on.

A few weeks later, we had a follow up visit and discovered the house was practically bare and only Jeremiah and Chus were in the house. Angelica had been seeing another man and decided to leave her family and move in with him. Her sister, with two small children, also moved out and went to stay with her late husband’s parents. Both Chus and Jeremiah are incredibly sad.

For a while (ie the past couple of years), we have noticed Angelica’s behavior as being very attention seeking. We believe she has been dreaming of a “better life.” One that isn’t as much dictated by poverty, but rather by the lusts of the world: a house, a car, and attention from men. Chus, being uneducated and working menial jobs 12 hours a day just to support his family, could never offer that to her.

We are unaware of exactly who Angelica moved in with, but there have been occasions where she was seen out and about with someone else. That may or may not be who she is now with.

Our current focus is to help Chus and Jeremiah through the heartache, depression, and sense of loss of their wife and mother. As you can imagine, this is extremely hard for them. We want to encourage Jeremiah to still go to school next year, but that will take some doing!
