In our most recent conversation with Carmen, she asked us for help in praying more earnestly in her and Jorge’s situation. She told us that Jorge’s drinking has gotten progressively worse and he has gotten more abusive verbally and physically. The boys do not want to visit him anymore and Carmen doesn’t feel safe in her own home. She spends most of her time at her daughter’s house in Guatemala City.

She loves Jorge and wants to see him get better but he doesn’t seem to “listen to reason” anymore. Regrettably, she is feeling like she has no other choice but to file a protection order against him. This means he will not be allowed on the property any longer without risk of being arrested. Carmen asked us if we might accompany her to try to have a conversation with him before she takes this step. We will be arranging a time to meet with her and discuss her options and see if it is even possible to talk to him at that time.

While we would love to see Jorge recover from his alcoholism, we know that it is a spiritual battle for his will. Please continue to join us in prayer for him, Carmen’s safety, and Jorge’s relationship with his sons.
