At the end of July Dincy celebrated her 15th birthday at her family’s church surrounded by friends and family. Thanks to donations from sponsors Servants was able to help the family with some of the costs for this special day! Sadly, all of our missionaries were out of town the day of the celebration so we were unable to be there. However, here are some pictures of the preparations for the big day that our missionaries got to be a part of.
- The beautiful dress that Dincy picked out for her special day
- Can’t have a new dress without new shoes!
- A ring to always remind her that she is a special young woman who belongs to God
- Close up of the ring
- Lunch to celebrate that they finished shopping!
We ask that you continue to pray for Dincy and Jairo as they both are still struggling a lot in school. Their parents and our missionaries have both sensed that they are having difficulty coping with the loss of their mother. We are looking at the possibility of getting them some help in dealing with that. Please pray that the kids would be open to this and that the Lord would use this to change their hearts, heal them and grow them closer to him.
In their most recent grades Dincy failed five classes and Jairo failed four classes and almost failed six other classes. We have continually asked the kids if they need help with their schoolwork, with tutoring, or if they’re struggling in any areas and they tell us no and that they just need to put more effort into it so please pray that they do.
Ilsa, Jairo and Dincy’s foster mom has been taking classes to learn to sew. In our previous updates we’ve shared some of the projects that she’s done. Most recently she learned how to make a dress. Here is a picture of the dress that Elsa made.
She is very happy to be learning this new skill and excited about the possibility of it helping to provide for her family. Please continue to pray that she would do well in her classes and learn as much as she can.
Please also pray for Elsa and her husband Ricardo to have wisdom in raising Dincy and Jairo and helping them through these difficult times.
