Not to our surprise, the Lopez kids are doing very well! Luis graduated middle school this year. There was no formal graduation ceremony since he was taking homeschool classes. Currently, he is trying to figure out what he wants to do for high school. In Guatemala, high school is more of a trade school where students have to choose a career path for the next 2-3 years. Although he is undecided, he will probably do something geared towards computers. He is currently working in an internet cafe.
Josue has also done well this year and loves learning. He continues to play the trumpet in music school as an extracurricular activity. Marlin is also attending classes to play the clarinet. She has had some struggles with classmates who are of the “bad crowd” but we along with Jorge and Shirley continue to guide her to respond appropriately. She contends that she wants to behave appropriately but sometimes wants to just lash out.
Please continue to pray for these dear “kids” (they are growing up so fast!)
