The past few months have been incredibly difficult for Aminta and her family.
Jorge and Cesar continue to remain stuck in their addictions. They drink, fight, and hurl insults at one another as well as the rest of the members still living at home. As a result, their own children (Aminta’s grandchildren) misbehave and are disobedient. There is chaos in the home and she doesn’t know what to do. This also affects Aminta’s health, as she still struggles with diabetes and she has become noticeably thinner and weaker physically.
In January, Olga accompanied her to the municipal office to officially register her land under her name. This is something that has been pending for quite some time, since she got the property deed sorted out with the man she purchased it from a decade ago. Because she took so long to register with the municipality, a fine has accrued that she currently cannot afford. This is something that we were trying to help her to avoid by encouraging her to go and take care of it, but until now she hasn’t attempted it.
Thanks to a donation in Christmas, Olga was able to surprise Aminta after their visit to the municipal building with a shopping trip! She was able to help Aminta get food for the house because unbeknownst to us, they had no food at home!

Nancy is the only one in the household who has work and is able to contribute to the income of the family. Jenny is trying to find a part-time job so she can work and also care for her baby, who is still breastfeeding. Jorge and Cesar, what little money they make, they don’t share it even though they are living in the house since they have separated from their wives.
A few weeks ago, Aminta knocked on Olga’s door in the middle of the night because Jorge was attacked by a group of men. We don’t know the reason for the fight, but they split his head open. Olga applied first aid and was able to stop the bleeding and close up the wound with butterfly stitches. She maintained a daily care regimen for him, cleaning and dressing the wound until it closed up! Since then, Jorge has stopped drinking and began attending City of Refuge church again! We praise God for using this grave situation to light a spark to change his life.

Aminta has begun meeting with Olga in Olga’s home, given that her house is so chaotic and there isn’t a safe space to share. Aminta asks for prayer for her kids and grandchildren, as it seems everything is spiraling out of control, and there isn’t enough to feed everyone. While Olga tries to give Aminta advice of how to take control of her household, it has always been a struggle for her to stand up for herself and take authority. Pray for Aminta’s heart, Jorge and Cesar’s addictions to be broken, and work for Jenny as well as Aminta to find a way to earn income.
