Ok some of you might be a little confused by that title but in Spanish “felicidades” means congratulations and congratulations are certainly in order for Fabiola as she passed her classes in school this year and will be moving on to her next grade next year!
While we at Servants are happy for all of our kids who passed their classes this year it is especially exciting for us to see Fabiola pass as she had some serious struggles this year.
Around the middle of the school year Fabiola got offered a job that paid a lot more money. The bad part was that she was working MANY hours which didn’t leave time for her school work and she was working on the days she was supposed to attend classes. Her employer was not willing to work with her and adjust her schedule and because her family needed the money Fabiola decided to stop going to school and continue working. Thankfully, we found out about this choice before it was too late and we were able to talk with Fabiola and her family. We explained that while it is a blessing to have a good paying job right now it is a hard job with many hours and if she continues school she can get a better job with good pay in the future. The family agreed this was what was best but Fabiola still had a hard time making the move to quit her job. Thankfully, the Lord intervened and Fabiola was let go from her job so she was able to focus on her school work. She caught up quickly on the work she had missed and as you can see from her report card below she did well the rest of the year and passed!
Please continue to pray for Fabiola as she advances to her next level in the coming year of school. Please also pray for continued provisions for the family as Fabiola’s mom and brother are the only ones working right now while Fabiola continues to look for a job that allows her to continue her schooling. Finally, please pray for Fabiola’s brother, Hamiltion, who dropped out of school this year because it was too hard for him. He will be trying again next year with the help of one of our missionaries who has committed to tutoring him. Also, please join us in praising Jesus for allowing Fabiola to finish this year of school and not get pulled into the vicious cycle of working in horrible conditions and quitting school to make extra money for the family!!
