In June we had our first ever birthday party for all of our families.  In the past we have done some individual birthday parties when sponsors have sent money and asked us to do something special for their families.  However, we wanted to be able to do something for everyone so we came up with the idea to do a group party once a year and if sponsors want to help with something special for birthdays they can send money for the annual birthday party.

For the birthday party we had a lot of different activities.  We went to a local park and spent the day playing on the toys at the park and enjoying time together relaxing.  We then had a lunch of chips, soda and shuckos, which are hot dogs with guacamole, ketchup, mayonnaise, cabbage and sometimes mustard/relish.  The lunch finished with 2 large birthday cakes for everyone.

We were planning on having a soccer game after lunch but it got rained out so instead we had 2 big piñatas filled with candy.  After the kids destroyed the piñatas and collected all the candy we gave out gifts to everyone.  The gifts were all things that were sent to Guatemala to bless our families or things that were bought with money that was donated.

Everyone had a great day and truly enjoyed the birthday party.  We are hoping to be able to do this every year for our families as this is a great time to celebrate the life God has given all of us.  It also allows us to enjoy time together.
