In our last update for the Lopez kids, they had some decisions to make. Now they have made their choices and we continue to be there for them as they grow.
Marlin was offered an opportunity for another ministry to pay for her to go to school full time. While we are grateful that she has this opportunity, we are concerned if this is what is best for her. Obviously continuing her education is a great thing, but at the same time, we hope she is learning how to be more independent and is working as well. In order to receive this scholarship, she moved away from the immediate area and is living with other missionaries who have known her for a long time.
Josue is working and supporting himself and Luis. Luis seems to be in a bit of a funk lately as he has encountered some legal issues that prevent him from working until they are resolved. The issues are of a sensitive nature so we would rather not share them for his sake and those involved, but we are praying it gets cleared up quickly so that he can apply for jobs and be able to be more productive. In the meantime, Jorge and Shirley have been working to keep him active in the church so he has something to do with his time. He does not seem very eager to return to college at this time, but if he was, he would need to pay to repeat his first semester before we could help him anyway.
