We last shared with you about Jairo having some masses on his neck and potentially needing surgery to remove them. We are happy to report that after seeing another doctor for a second opinion surgery was avoided. Jairo was deficient in a few vitamins, and he was prescribed supplements for two months. After two months, the masses that were on his neck disappeared on their own. We give thanks to God for healing Jairo and for His provision in allowing us to seek out a second opinion with another doctor.
While Jairo was being treated for his masses we found out that Jackeline’s dad Carlos was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Please pray with us that he is healed of this cancer, that it doesn’t spread, and that he is able to get proper treatment.
Sticking with the medical theme, Alejandra recently had two cavities filled and is feeling better. Proper dental hygiene is a constant issue with the families we serve in Guatemala. We thank those of you who have given donations of toothpaste.
The kids continue to do well in their studies, and they are looking forward to the end of the school year. The kids typically visit their grandparents for a month or two when the school year ends in October, and Jairo especially is looking forward to this as he was unable to spend much time with them last year because they live a few hours away, and he needed to be in the area for all his medical needs with the masses on his neck.
Jackeline recently shared with us that she would like the opportunity to study English. Specifically, she would like to complete an intense 10-month English immersion program geared toward preparing adults for a career working with a call center. We are currently discussing the details of this with her. Please pray with us for this possibility as a job working with a call center is desirable in Guatemala due to the higher salary it pays and the benefits it provides in comparison to most jobs.
Thank you for your ongoing support for the Chinchilla family. Without you we wouldn’t be able to assist this family with their many medical needs or with ongoing education opportunities.
