Since our last update about the Mateo family there have been some significant changes in their lives. A few weeks after our last update the landlord of the house that the Mateos were staying in called to tell us that she could no longer allow them to live there because she had been by to check on the house and she confirmed that there was definite gang activity going on. She was very apologetic to Servants as a ministry but she explained that she just could not have this happening in one of her houses. We completely understood and started the process to move the Mateo family from this home back to their previous home in the city. This was not something that made Ceci and Virginia happy (Ceci is the mother of the family and Virginia is her sister) but once we explained the situation with the landlord they decided this would be their best option.

Sadly, Virginia and Ceci created some difficulties during this process and when the day of the move came some of the men they are associated with a gang showed up. Praise the Lord our local Guatemalan missionaries and the men from the church who were helping Virgina and Ceci move knew how to handle this situation and got some police involved as added protection. It was a day that was covered in prayer and the Lord was faithful and protected everyone involved.

Ceci and Virginia, along with the 4 young children, are now living back in the old house where the whole family originally lived and Ludwin and his brothers are living up the street. We still continue to assist this family as the Lord allows us and thankfully this change has reestablished some boundaries that are needed for the well being and growth of the Mateo family and for Servants’ ministry.

Please continue to pray for this family as there are many obstacles working against them. Ceci and Virginia are still struggling to take the initiative to find work, Ceci and Ludwin are still separated and struggling in their marriage although Ceci is now saying she wants to come back to Ludwin but he is unsure of her motives, Ludwin has not been able to continue school due to some struggles he’s having, Ceci and Virginia are still involved with gangs, Virginia is pregnant again and we believe it is to one of the gang members, the young children were showing signs of abuse but Ceci has not allowed us to continue to have them see a counselor, and no one in the family is faithfully seeking the Lord. So please continue to cover this family in prayer and please pray for us as we seek the Lord on how we can best help this family without hurting them or the ministry.
