Main Page
I found a way to put families in alphabetical order! Don’t worry, it was a very easy way. I stumbled across it while trying to fix something else 🙂 Also, our July team will be bringing a professional photographer that wants to bless families by taking pictures of them and having them printed. We are also hoping to use the digital versions as our family profile pics in order to clean up our photos on the family profile pages.
Mobile Version
The mobile version of the page has been fixed, so now you can view mySARF on your phone or tablet!
Family Profiles
In trying to work with the different variables of each family (info we have, pictures, picture quality, etc.) it seems like we have a uniformity problem between each family profile. We were brainstorming to see what appears better and if we should work to make each page look as identical as possible or if the variety is ok (meaning it doesn’t create too much confusion, etc.). Let me know what you think! We were recently talking about having birthdays, etc. included in the “sponsor welcome packet.”
Family Post Emails
I changed the format of the family updates we receive to only be an excerpt which will drive readers to the actual website. The main reason for this is because picture collages look better on the site than in an email plus it drives traffic to the site which has a variety of benefits (aside from the behind-the-scenes stuff) such as keeping people engaged with what we put out there and venturing to look at other stuff that is available. What do you think about that? Also, I am trying to put out one email update per family that is on the site before having sponsors registered with the site in order for us to have some sort of baseline to start from (some of you were saying that your perspective families didn’t have any updates yet). Now that the site is working again I can catch up on those 🙂
Info Page
Still haven’t heard anyone’s comments about linking to the CIA World Factbook.
Right Column
In the blog post pages (everything but the front page with pictures), the right column has some things in it such as a calendar, a link to the Servants site, etc. This is something that can constantly change based on ministry needs to inform sponsors.
Post Comments
I disabled commenting on family posts because I am afraid some people will create issues with inappropriate questions or even asking things that don’t really apply to how we do things. On the other hand, if someone asks a question publicly, we can use that as an opportunity to educate anyone else who happens to read it. The other issue with this is trying to keep up with comments. Do you think the benefits outweigh the risks?
