Jeremias is loving school again!
At the end of last year, Jeremias wasn’t very enthused to continue school. As we all know, at the end of a year of working hard all you want is a break. He is thankful, however, that we “convinced” him to continue. It’s great to see his change of heart and that he enjoys continuing to learn. He is struggling a bit with virtual sessions, but there is talk of kids returning to classes so he is excited for that and to intermingle with his classmates again.

Chus’ work at the cement factory is still hit or miss. He got a temporary job sorting out change for an arcade, which only pays him about $5 a day but it helps in between availability at the factory.
Angelica decided she is going to start her own cooking business out of her home. She had been trying to partner with other friends of hers but one way or another it never seems to work out. Previously we had offered to help get her started but she said, “No thanks, I need to do this for myself.” We are pleased to see her taking some initiative and continue to encourage her and monitor if there is some kind of help she will need in the future.
An additional note is that Angelica’s son-in-law was murdered by a gang at the beginning of May. He was trying to earn some extra money as a motorcycle taxi driver part-time when he wasn’t at his regular job. However, the gangs regulate all taxi drivers and imposed their tax on him (which he couldn’t afford because he only does it occasionally), and was found dead not too far from Olga’s house. He was killed in broad daylight.
Please pray for the family as they mourn but also pray for their continued motivation to do what is necessary to work to support themselves.
