On one of our visits with Jackeline and her family this past week she shared with us that she had an interview and will be starting a job on Wednesday of this week. She said she will need to work the first 15 days without receiving pay as a probation period but she told us she is thankful to learn something during that time and have the possibility of a job, so she is willing to do it.
The kids are doing very well in school and were excited to share their grades with each of our missionaries as they visited at different times. The kids told us they enjoy studying and really like their teachers. One of our missionaries told Alejandra that since she likes studying so much we will find a way for her to study during school break and she said “no, I don’t like studying THAT much.” 🙂
The family has enjoyed some time playing Bancopoly (the Guatemalan version of Monopoly) with one of our missionaries but they all finally decided to quit after several hours, and Alejandra said maybe next time they can start at 9 a.m. and HOPEFULLY finish by 6 p.m. We love her sense of humor!! Jairo loves playing with pogs and has about 100 or more of them, which he won by playing with his friends. He told us that he started with just a few that someone gave him (because his mom won’t buy them because they are expensive and aren’t something that he needs), and from there he won all of them by challenging his friends.
We are so thankful for all of these times of joy that we’ve gotten to share with the family especially because they are still struggling a lot with the health of Jackeline’s mom, Sandra. Thankfully, Sandra is now out of the hospital, and the kids have had several opportunities to visit her. Jackeline told us that Jairo is really growing into his role as the “man of the house” and caring well for his grandmother when he visits her. The kids also had to deal with the sadness of the death of their dog recently, but they seem to have recovered well. Not long after their dog died their fish had babies, so that distracted them from the loss of their dog.
Please continue to pray for Jackeline to get the job that God wants her to have and that will work best for her and the kids. Please also pray for healing for Jackeline’s mom and for the kids to continue to do well in school.
Thank you for all of your love, prayers, and support for this family!
