This past week 2 of our missionaries stopped by to visit the Jimenez family and share some food with them. They arrived to find a heart-wrenching situation that only God can heal.

Our missionaries showed up expecting to find Carmen, the grandmother of the family, because she was who they had talked to about arranging the visit. Instead they found 2 of the boys alone with their dad who sadly was drunk. Roselina, the mother of the family, and the other 2 boys were nowhere to be found. The oldest boy told us that his grandmother had to work late. As we started talking with Jorge, the father of the family, he broke down and started crying telling us that Roselina had left him and that he didn’t know what to do. He told us that she is going to be living with her family a couple hours away and that the next day she was bringing the other 2 boys back and leaving them with Jorge. We believe she is bringing the boys back so that they can continue their schooling for the year because if they move to another school they could end up having to repeat the year.

We spent some time sharing with Jorge and encouraging him not to use alcohol to help him through this time but to turn to Jesus because He is the only one who can change hearts and restore broken relationships. We also encouraged Jorge to remember that if he is going to be the one caring for the boys now he has to be a good example for them. Jorge shared that he knows all of this but he is just so heartbroken right now he feels like he doesn’t know what to do. He is very concerned with how he will continue to work and take care of his children without Roselina and he is also concerned that she has found another man and will not come back to him. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have any way of contacting Roselina to talk with her, encourage her, and let her know she is not alone. However, we know that God will make a way.

We ask that you join us in praying for healing in this situation. Pray for God to open both Jorge and Roselina’s hearts to His grace and love so they can have this grace and love for each other.   Please pray for Jesus to restore this relationship and to protect this marriage from destruction. Please also pray for the children and for God to protect them, care for them, and heal them from any hurts this situation may be causing in them.
