Over the last few months there have been many things going on with the Jimenez family. As you may remember from our last update Jorge was having a lot of issues with drinking, the oldest son Andre went to live with his mom (Rosalina), who moved away from the home in July of last year, Andre was not attending school, and we were very concerned for the family.
Since our last update our missionaries in Guatemala had a chance to meet with Rosalina. During this time they were able to discuss the importance of Andre attending school. Rosalina explained that she wants him to attend school but he refuses to go and she doesn’t know what to do. Our missionaries talked with Andre and explained to him how important this is and how it will impact the rest of his life but he still has not returned to school. Please pray for God to put the desire in Andre’s heart to get the education that he needs to help break the cycle of poverty that has plagued his family.
We have also had the opportunity over the last few months to research rehabilitation centers here in Guatemala because Jorge expressed an interest in going to one for his alcohol addiction. It has been difficult to find one that is Christian based, low cost, and good quality. Thankfully a few weeks ago we were able to find one that meets all of these requirements. We shared this information with Jorge and he told us that he is still interested in going but he has some things that he needs to take care of first. The main thing we are all working to do before we move forward with this is to make sure we find someone who can care for the boys and that they can still continue to receive some form of education. Please pray for God to work everything out so that the boys can be taken care of and that Jorge will continue to have the desire to move forward and get the recuperation that he needs.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support for this family during this difficult time!
