This year, through faithful sponsorships, Carmen and Oscar Diaz have the opportunity to attend a better school than the one they were attending last year. This is a huge blessing for them because they are receiving a better education. However, it is a challenge too because the children who have always attended this school are used to this higher level of education while Carmen and Oscar are trying to catch up.
One area where this is most difficult is with Carmen learning English. The majority of her classmates have already had experience learning English and some know a good amount of words in English. For Carmen, this is her first year studying English and it’s hard. She has shared with us how she feels bad because she is the one in her class who knows the least English. While this is a challenge for her we also see the blessing in this because she gives everything she has to her English studies. Carmen is a great student and always works hard but the last few times we have been to visit her one of the first things she does is get out her English workbook to start reviewing lessons with our missionaries who speak English. She loves the opportunity to study with people who understand English, who can correct her mistakes, and who can teach her new things that the classmates don’t even know yet.
Despite this struggle Carmen and Oscar continue to do well in this school and like it very much. Carmen recently shared with us that she was elected class president this year and she was so proud because this was her first year attending this school and it’s quite an honor to be elected over other children who have been there longer.
Please continue to pray for Oscar and Carmen to thrive in this new school and to stay encouraged in their studies. Please also pray for God to continue to provide for this better schooling for this family and for all of our SARF families.
We also want to thank you all who read the post about Oscar’s tooth and for your prayers about this situation. Again, through sponsorships of this family, Oscar was able to afford to go to the dentist, have a consultation, and get started on a treatment plan to get his tooth aligned to where it should be. We have seen great progress over the last few months and below is a picture we wanted to share with all of you.

Oscar’s tooth before he visited the dentist and started his therapy to get it in the correct position.

Oscar’s tooth after months of treatment. Please continue to pray for his tooth to get to the correct position and for God to provide for this need.
Thank you for all of your prayers and continued support for this family!
