It is with a bittersweet sentiment that we send this recent update about the Monrroy family. We just returned from dropping off Maria Margarita from the funeral procession. There was a small service at the Catholic church just a block away where they attended and then we had the funeral procession to the cemetery. Also, we asked her if she would like to postpone her eye appointment and she asked if it would be okay to push it back for the next week which we said of course we would reschedule. Below is an explanation of the events leading up to Maria Olivia’s passing.
For some time now, Maria Olivia’s health has been declining. Her most cumbersome issue has been swelling in her legs which really affected her ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. More recently, the doctors finally found a medicine that helped with the swelling. The past few weeks, she had been bedridden and depressed. One week ago she fell and was admitted to the hospital because she injured her leg. She was approved for surgery and this week they operated on her. She came out of surgery alert and responding well to the treatment. Sunday in the early morning, however, she passed away. The doctors do not have an explanation as to why since she was responding well to the surgery and she didn’t seem to be having any other medical issues. An autopsy was not performed because of her age.
Please keep Maria Margarita in your prayers as she mourns the passing of her sister. Her greatest concern is that now she is on her own. We reassured her that God has surrounded her with family and friends and that she is not alone because God is always with her. She thanked us for always being there for them and for the desire God has put in our hearts to help them always. We told her it was a blessing to serve them. Servants will also be helping her pay on behalf of her sponsors the last 250q (approximately $32) she owes the municipality for funeral services.
