These past 6 months have brought a lot of changes for Jackeline, Jairo, and Alejandra.

At the end of last year, they were really struggling with living with Jackeline’s dad and sisters. Her sisters haven’t treated her very well and her father, who has been struggling with depression onset by last year’s diagnosis of prostate cancer hasn’t helped. While Jackeline did her best to bear the brunt of it, she decided she needed to change something when she noticed how much it was affecting the kids.

In trying to make the best of two difficult decisions, she decided to move in with her boyfriend, Eddar. He is a high school teacher who to this day has maintained a good job throughout the week and works in another school on the weekends. He treats Jackeline and her kids very well. He is resistant to marriage, however, because of his previous marriage not ending well. We continue to try to counsel her through that process as she wants to get married and loves him, but he remains firm in his position.

Along with the move brought a new school for both the kids. They have been adjusting well, although it has always been difficult for Jairo to change schools. The school offers free after-hours instruction and reinforcement classes. Alejandra was hesitant to change schools as she is in her last year of primary school and didn’t want to leave all of her friends. She has enjoyed being able to be there for her brother though. The school has created online courses for them to continue attending classes but Jairo is struggling with being in a video chat setting all day. Jackeline has been staying on top of him to make sure he continues to pay attention.

Recently, the owners of the house that Eddar is renting, and they are living in, asked them to find another place to live as they need to move back into the house. With everything else going on with restrictions due to COVID, it has been very difficult to find a place to move to. Jackeline especially wants to make sure they stay close to the school so as not to create another change on top of it all. The owners asked them to move out by the end of June, and they are still struggling to find a suitable place for them to live that is within their budget.

Jackeline also told us that she has been suffering from stomach pains, about which we would like to ask you to pray for her! There seems to be a stomach illness affecting some folks these days apart from the COVID pandemic issues. Please continue to pray for this family as they search for a new home, deal with being “sheltered in place” and also for Jackeline’s stomach issues.
